To date, professional guiding of winter sports in Canada has been led by the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides (ACMG) and the Canadian Ski Guide Association (CSGA).  These groups have done amazing work in their respective sectors.  However, there has never been a supervising or regulatory body for the training, assessment, and certification of guides for motorized winter sports.  The lack of this type of support for current or aspiring guides and operators has left the door open for scrutiny.  

The Canadian Motorized Backcountry Guides Association (CMBGA) is a recently established, volunteer driven, not-for-profit society incorporated in the province of British Columbia.  Our purpose is to institute, test and certify an industry standard of skillsets, procedures and avalanche training for motorized backcountry guides. In turn, this will enhance the level of safety and proficiency of guides in this profession.  

A small group of dedicated volunteers have undertaken this task but support from stakeholders and supporters is required to get the association off the ground.  Base funding for critical items such as insurance, web design and professional consultation fees is integral to the success of the CMBGA.  Please consider a “Join the Movement” membership.  This category of membership is designed for winter enthusiasts who want to stay informed, are interested in further training and certification or are stakeholders in the motorized mountain sports world.  Join the Movement membership is $50.00 plus taxes per year.
